Richard Schreiber, MD, FACP, is Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Geisinger Health System, and Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Geisinger Holy Spirit in Camp Hill, PA, and is board certified in Clinical Informatics. He is an internist, geriatrician, educator, and researcher. He was previously in private practice, and now works part time as a hospitalist. He is the physician champion for the use and optimization of electronic health records (EHR) at GHS. He spearheaded physician EHR adoption and near universal computerized provider order entry (CPOE) for the first EHR which GHS utilized for over 10 years. Dr. Schreiber then led the transformation to a system-wide EHR which is essentially paperless. Dr. Schreiber is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Board of Preventive Medicine (Clinical Informatics), has been board certified in Geriatrics, and is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, the American Medical Informatics Association, the Association of Medical Directors of Information Services, and HIMSS. He received the AMDIS Special Recognition in Applied Clinical Informatics award in 2014. His clinical informatics research focuses on clinical decision support, CPOE, drug-drug interaction alerting, documentation improvement, problem list curation, and CDS anomalies.
