Donald A.B. Lindberg, MD, pioneered the application of computer technology to healthcare,beginning in 1960 as a Professor of Information
Science and Professor of Pathology at the University of Missouri−Columbia. In 1984, Dr. Lindberg was appointed as Director of the National Library of
Medicine, the world’s largest biomedical library, and served as NLM Director until he retired in 2015.
