Sameer Malhotra, MD, MA is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Healthcare Policy and Research and a Physician executive with the title of Associate Medical Director of Informatics at Weill Cornell Medicine. With over 15 years experience in the field of Biomedical Informatics he has overseen large scale organizational maneuvers such as ICD 10 transition and use of advanced decision support towards improving the process and quality of health care delivery. He received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), followed by a masters Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University where he worked on two NLM-funded projects on patient safety, medical devices and medical errors in the critical care setting. Since joining Weill Cornell Medical College in 2008 he has worked as a hospitalist and Physician Informatician with publications related to his applied work in several domains including generic prescribing, imaging decision support, transitioning between EHR systems and patient quality and safety. He also directs courses on Quality and Medical Informatics at the institutions Masters in Biomedical Informatics program. More recently he has been leading the precision medicine to electronic health record (EHR) integration efforts and its related decision support development for prospective genomic testing as well as genetic variant based research recruitment in cancer patients.
